Wishful Desires for smoother progression

Jun-28-2022 PST Category: Lost Ark

After two times of grinding into T3 and now I'm having some thoughts regarding how the process could be improved significantly. Do these things are likely to be possible? No. Could it make the sport better? Undoubtedly. But for my benefit, I'm just going to rant the blunder out quickly with a sincere need to see improvements.

Before we dive into this I've been playing WoW, D3, GW2 and Warframe. I've heard every excuse starting with "well it's not too terrible" to "well you just need to buy this booster and then grind for six hours, it's easy". Don't. I'm sure that there are some who will as you didn't finish the second sentence , before scrolling down to make a silly post, but please don't.

1. Take away RNG from honing up until T3.

This is a big one MFW. The most difficult experiences I've had in the progression of my character have been 500-600 and 1000-1100. There's not a lot of content available during subsequent playthroughs because island quests are restricted to a roster (and the mats being restricted) which means there's not much to accomplish. It's already a very painful experience as you're restricted to weeklies, dailies and guilds for a meaningful progress rate. This is bad enough since it's boring and boring but the real kick in the stomach is failing to achieve an 80% hone on an item and therefore slowing down a whole day's the road to meaningful content. I failed to hone high percentages for four consecutive days, which delayed my main goal of getting to Punika because of the terrible RNG. I'm seeing the rngs for hones with higher tiers and exceeding the limit, acceptable, however gatekeeping progress toward the main story and denying access to, perhaps, the best content available in The PvE (Commander Legion Raids) that is based on an unintentional dice roll is outrageous. It's not enjoyable, it's not fun, and it is very irritating so I'd be shocked to see it force a many players to leave.

2. Automatically give Class Engravings to students upon attaining the appropriate level (Tier 1 Uncommon Tier 2 Rare and so on.)

Engravings are vital to know how characters play and could drastically alter the character. Sometimes the character may not be working correctly without the engravings of the class. Furthermore the Class Engravings represent the one absolutely, compulsory Engraving. It's only one of many things you can do in the course and yet the idea of locking it behind RNG for characters beyond your primary isn't sighted. Are you able to grind out the rest of them? Yes However, Smile Gate themselves have stated that they want players to take on other classes. So blocking a large portion of the identity of the class behind rng is a bad marketing and design. We have battle engravings to grind and because they change over time as balance changes, it's an excellent system.

They're not part of any specific character (mostly) but youcan, frankly, will find a ton of battle engravings in the books.

3. Rethink the main story mission to streamline some of the older dull, but more obvious quests and push toward bigger set pieces.

Let me share an account. I was incredibly eager playing Lost Ark when it released. I played it the first day for two hours then quit. Why? Because aside from the game's core gameplay, the initial 4-6 hours are absolutely awful. Voice acting in the game is shoddy The world-building is minimal and the characters are boring and uninteresting The game throws nearly every system you can think of in a single go. Also, I have bad news for those who believe that I'm not alone. The most players play a game for about two hours before deciding their minds about on whether or not they'll be playing it. This group of players (the people who aren't a fan) also comprise more than 80% of the players base. The Lost Ark's onboarding system is horrible, and terribly, terrible.

I downloaded this game after two months, due to boredom and forced myself to play it. I'm glad that I did because it doesn't really showcase the capabilities of the game until the time of Luterra. There are a number of memorable moments sprinkled throughout the story , but it's all sucked up in "Go take this vase and walk ten steps and drop it" useless quests that are used as a useless padding. It's not necessary to advise people to "push into the initial couple of minutes and it'll be good I swear" to play one of the top or even the most popular ARPGs available at the moment. Do you think it's a huge ask for Smile Gate? Yes, but it'll help the long-term viability of the game since it will bring in more players over time.

In conclusion, I would like to believe that this change will happen however I am sure they never will. This is a sad state of circumstances because there are some obvious flaws in a amazing game (even when it's P2W).
