New World Idea: Faction-Sold Resource Packs

Nov-04-2023 PST Category: New World

In my view, meeting daily crafting objectives should not necessitate enriching others or contributing to the predicament of node availability or scarcity.

I propose the introduction of faction resource packs:

Tier 6 Magus: Cost - 30,000 tokens, Contents - 500 units each of Mythril Ore, Runewood, Spinfiber, and Dark Leather.

Tier 5: Cost - 20,000 tokens, Contents - 500 units each of Orichalcum, Ironwood, Wire Fiber, and Iron Hide.

Tier 4: Cost - 15,000 tokens, Contents - 750 units each of Starmetal, Wyrdwood, Silk Thread, and Thick Hide.

Tier 3: Cost - 10,000 tokens, Contents - 150 Steel Ingots, 500 Aged Wood, and 100 of various components (Flux, Weave, Sandpaper, Tannin).

Tier 2: Cost - 5,000 tokens, Contents - 1,000 units each of Iron Ore, Greenwood, Fibers, and Rawhide.

Tier 1: Cost - 2,500 tokens, Contents - 10 packs of common profession potions.

Notably, none of these transactions would require the use of New World gold coins.

The current resource competition has reached a point of absurdity, and addressing node-related issues seems to be a low priority. While it's possible to purchase resources with tokens and resell them, not everyone partaking in faction quests has the means to buy seals and inductors. Introducing these resource packs would provide a viable avenue for players to at least meet the daily limits for Asmodeum, Phoenixweave, Glittering Ebony, and Runic Leather without resorting to costly acquisitions.

It's my belief that basic staples of the game should not require the purchase of resources, nor should these resources be subject to monopolization. Such a situation might lead to a dangerous devaluation of gathering activities. While I acknowledge the prevalence of bots and resource competition, the proposed solution aims to avoid the devaluation of gathering skills that we've seen in other games, like RuneScape, where excessive quantities of gatherable materials were introduced into boss and enemy drop tables, rendering gathering almost obsolete. In contrast, this idea aims to strike a balance between accessibility and the preservation of gathering's value within the game.
