Elden Ring: Completing the Castle Mour Questline and Exploring the Surrounding Areas

Feb-08-2025 PST Category: Elden Ring
In Elden Ring, one of the most rewarding aspects of the game is following questlines that lead to powerful rewards and engaging storylines. In this guide, we will walk through the steps to start and complete the Castle Mour questline, as well as explore the surrounding areas. From meeting NPCs to battling tough enemies, this guide will ensure you get the most out of your time in this part of the game. Additionally, if you find yourself needing a boost, you can always buy Elden Ring Runes to enhance your character's abilities and ensure you're well-prepared for the challenges ahead.

Step 1: Starting the Questline at the Bridge of Sacrifice

To begin the Castle Mour questline, you need to start by heading to the Bridge of Sacrifice. From here, travel down the path, which will eventually lead you to Irene. Talk to her, and she will give you a letter meant for her father. This letter is key for progressing in the questline, so make sure to take it with you.

Step 2: Finding the Path to Castle Mour

To reach Castle Mour, head directly south from the Castle Mour Ramparts. Keep riding Torrent (your mount) and eventually, you will encounter a giant. Defeat it before proceeding further. Once you've done this, proceed up the lift to reach the first main courtyard of the castle.

Be Cautious: Castle Mour’s Dangers

If you’re on the lower side of the level spectrum, be wary of the numerous enemies in this area. You'll encounter damn humans and dogs—they can be tricky to deal with in large groups. A good strategy is to summon your own dogs to help manage the crowd. I prefer to clear out every enemy and gather all the items, but if you're more focused on quest progression, you can skip some of the combat.

Step 3: Clearing the Castle Mour Courtyard

Once you’ve fought your way through the courtyard, make sure to check the corner to your left where you'll find a couple of dogs guarding some important loot—a Stone item. Continue through the area until you find Firegr sitting up on a ledge, and proceed by taking out the Mad Pumpkinhead (he’s easier than he looks). Just ahead, there will be a Smithing Stone 1, so be sure to grab it.

Follow this path to meet Edgar, and at this point, give him Irene's note to further progress the quest.

Step 4: Defeating the Boss and Getting the Ruins Greatsword

Next, you need to take down the boss of the area in order to obtain the Ruins Greatsword. After this, you can return to Edgar with the sword. However, before heading back, make sure to grab the Smithing Stone 2 located on a side path.

Continue your exploration by following the route down the cliffs. This will eventually lead to a side of Grace. Take note that there’s a Pickled Turtleneck in one of the rooms; just be cautious of the traps falling from the ceiling.

Step 5: Finding the Twinblade Talisman

Next, you'll find the Twinblade Talisman by continuing along the path. Drop down onto the rooftops, which will take you to another part of the castle. Be careful when you reach the hole in the floor, as it’s a classic Souls-like jumping puzzle. Always aim to land on the beams before proceeding.

Once you reach the bottom, prepare for a surprise attack by rats and misbegotten. There's a Grace to your left—make sure to rest at it, as it will save you the trouble of traveling back should you die.

Step 6: The Whip and Backtracking

After dispatching the enemies in the area, head down to the beach for a Somber Smithing Stone and avoid attacking the jellyfish unless you want a fight on your hands. Afterward, enter the room filled with rats and pick up the Whip.

Now it’s time to backtrack. Use the original Grace point to head back and explore the opposite side of the castle. Here, you will find the Claymore and the Steelwire Torch. Once you've gathered every item, it's time to face Leoni Misbegotten.

Step 7: Confronting Leoni Misbegotten

The Leoni Misbegotten boss is not overly difficult. Just be cautious not to get backed into a corner, especially near the gravestones. I prefer to use my Uchi Katana's weapon art to stagger the boss and land some powerful hits. Defeat Leoni, then return to Edgar and complete the quest.

Step 8: The Tombsward Catacombs

Next, we explore the Tombsward Catacombs, which are located south of the Church of Pilgrimage or west of the Lookout Tower. When you arrive, you'll see jellyfish marking the entrance to the Catacombs. Use a Stone Sword Key here to unlock the Nomadic Warrior Cookbook 9.

Once inside, be careful of the two skeletons that attack when you use the stone sword key. Take them out quickly before moving on to the next room, where you’ll need to fight additional skeleton enemies and pick up Grave Glove Wart.

Navigating the Catacombs

The next room will feature two Skeleton Archers and two Skeleton Swordsmen. Lure them into a group so you can defeat them more easily. Make sure to stop the fire pillar by shooting a projectile or by hiding in a nearby room. If you're feeling brave, you can just run through it.

Continue through the rooms, taking out any enemies that appear, and don’t forget to grab the Prattling Pain gesture from the room on the left. Once you reach the boss, prepare for a battle with the Cemetery Shade. It's relatively easy, and summoning dogs can help distract it. Defeat it to gain Lud the Headless, a strong summon.

Step 9: Exploring M Tunnel

Next, head to M Tunnel, which is easiest to access south of the Lookout Tower. After getting the Grace, clear out the Misbegotten in the area, and make sure to cross the beam without being attacked by the other Misbegotten. At the end of the tunnel, you'll find a Smithing Stone.

Step 10: The Final Boss in M Tunnel

The boss in M Tunnel is another Misbegotten. While easy, be cautious about your surroundings. Once defeated, you’ll receive the Rusted Hook as a reward.

Step 11: The Wondrous Physick and Sacred Tears

The last part of this journey involves getting the Wondrous Physick and the Sacred Tears to enhance your flask. Start by heading to the Third Church of Marika and collect the Wondrous Physick. From there, head south toward the Weeping Peninsula.

Sacred Tears Locations:

· First Sacred Tear: Behind the mountain in the Cud Baptist Church.

· Second Sacred Tear: Located west in the Weeping Peninsula.

· Third Sacred Tear: At the Fourth Church of Marika in Ling Grave.

Once you’ve picked up all four Sacred Tears, your Flask will be much more powerful, preparing you for tougher battles ahead. If you want to give your character an edge, consider checking out MMOEXP for cheap Elden Ring Items that will help you on your journey.
