Diablo IV: The Craziest Farming Druid Build in Cataclysm
Diablo fans! If you're looking for the most insane farming build in Diablo IV, you've come to the right place. Today, I'm going to walk you through how I play Cataclysm Druid - an extremely efficient open world farming and fast clearing build. This build is, without a doubt, the most efficient build I've played in Diablo to date. I've tested some of the most powerful builds every season, but Cataclysm Druid takes the top spot in terms of raw efficiency, especially when it comes to farming. With the right seasonal mystic gems and clear runes, this build shines in the higher levels of Torment 1 and the Abyss. If you're looking to maximize your Diablo 4 Gold acquisition while farming, to speed up your progression and gear upgrades, here's a guide. But don't worry, I'll break it down for you!
Important Disclaimer:
I didn't create this build—it's based on the Maxroll S+ Tier Build, with a few personal tweaks since I’m missing some specific seasonal gems and runes. If you're looking for the ultimate optimized version of this build, check out the Maxroll build link in the description. Let’s dive into what you’ll need!
What You Need to Get Started
To build the Cataclysm Druid, you'll need the following core items and stats:
1. Aidra Inexorable Will – Dropped by the Echo of Varon
2. Molck Ring – Dropped by Lord Zur
3. Tempest Roar – Can be obtained from Andario, Durial, or the open world. Alternatively, you can gamble for it (I got mine that way!).
4. Zan Rune – This took me a while to find, but it’s essential.
5. Cooldown Reduction – You’ll need enough cooldown reduction to ensure you can hit Cataclysm before your last cast timer runs out.
Setting Up Your Build
When you enter a zone, it’s crucial to set up your buffs. Here’s the general sequence:
1. Start by activating your buffs:
1. Debilitating Roar
2. Earth and Bull Work
3. Hurricane (You’ll run around and tag mobs to build up the necessary buffs)
2. Work toward activating the buffs from the Zan and Cak runes. These buffs are what you will snapshot with Cataclysm. Snapshotting is key here: it’s when you use a skill that consumes a buff and applies it for the full duration of the skill. Since Cataclysm lasts so long, you’ll get the benefit of those buffs for quite a while.
· Note: Once your buffs are ready, make sure you’re fully stocked up before hitting Cataclysm. You'll want to snapshot those buffs just before you activate it to maximize damage output.
3. Cooldown Management:
· Keep an eye on your cooldowns. You want to refresh your Cataclysm as soon as it runs out to keep the chain going. Run around and keep using Evade on cooldown while the buffs build up. Once your buffs are active, hit Cataclysm and watch the screen melt.
Rune Variations and Budget Options
Now, if you’re like me and still hunting for those rare runes (I haven't found Igny or Bach yet), you can still make this work with budget options. Instead of Igny + Zan and Bach + CX, I’m currently using:
· Neo + Son (instead of Igny + Zan)
· Sem + CX (instead of Bach + CX)
These are still pretty powerful, but feel free to trade for the missing runes when you can. For now, I’m running a self-certified solo self-found setup (meaning no trading for me—at least until I get desperate).
Farming Strategy in Action
Here’s a quick rundown of how I approach speed farming with this setup:
1. Step out of town and hit your Debilitating Roar, Earth and Bull Work, and Hurricane.
2. Run around and tag mobs until your Zan and Cak buffs are active.
3. Once the buffs are active, hit Cataclysm and let it do its thing. Your goal here is to keep that chain going by hitting Cataclysm as soon as the timer gets low, ensuring it doesn't run out before the next cast.
Pro Tip: Be careful with using Hurricane at this point, as it consumes your Zan Rune’s buff and will delay your Cataclysm chain. This will require you to do the whole setup over again, so use it sparingly!
Speed Farming with No Godly Gear
The cool part about this build is that you don’t need god-tier gear to see insane results. Even with mid-tier gear, I’ve been able to clear Torment 4 and farm at a crazy pace. Here’s a snapshot of my gear (as of this guide):
· A mix of 4 out of 12s and 8 out of 12s gear.
· Some 12 out of 12s on the way.
· Gear isn’t perfect, but it’s still strong enough to clear zones like a breeze.
This setup is incredibly fast for farming Grim Favors for alt characters. You can easily farm these and then open them all at once to level alts from 1 to 60 in no time.
Gear Recommendations:
· Flicker Step Boots are a great option for speed farming, but I haven’t found them yet. Keep an eye out for these!
· Follow the Maxroll build planner for exact gear, Spirit Boons, and Paragon Board recommendations. These are essential for your progression.
Additional Tips:
1. If you’ve already hit max armor (like I have), you can cut back on some armor nodes in the Paragon Board. Don’t waste resources on stats you’re already overcapped on.
2. Glyphs—I haven’t maxed out all of mine yet, but you should aim for a 45 in each glyph for maximum efficiency. It’s a quick upgrade and will make a big difference.
Final Thoughts
If you're looking to crush Torment 4 activities and speed farm for alt characters or gear upgrades, this build is a game-changer. You don’t need top-tier gear—just the right buffs, runes, and cooldown reduction to make Cataclysm Druid one of the most fun and efficient farming builds in Diablo IV.
