Achieving 1500 Total Levels in OSRS Without Leaving the Grand Exchange
Now, I've included the Rock Palace and my Player-Owned House (POH) as part of the allowed areas. Although this may seem like a small change, it has opened up a world of new possibilities. With this new expansion, the goal is now set at 1500 total levels—an incredibly challenging feat, but one that I’m determined to accomplish.
Chopping Yew Trees for Levels and Profit
One of the main activities I've been focusing on is chopping yew trees. While it’s true that yew trees are slow in terms of experience per hour, they’re incredibly AFK-friendly and offer a decent profit on the side. After countless hours of chopping, I finally reached 79 Woodcutting. It's been a long grind, but the progress is satisfying, and every level brings me closer to my new goal.
Crafting for 99: A Break-even Endeavor
Crafting has been another focus of mine, particularly because I’m closing in on 99. Currently, I'm sitting at 97 Crafting, with only two levels to go. One of the methods I've been using is cutting amethyst into amethyst dart tips. What’s great about this method is that it’s currently break-even, meaning I don’t lose any money while training, and it’s also quite AFK-friendly. With an experience rate of around 140,000 to 150,000 XP per hour, it’s a great way to grind out those last few levels.
However, crafting has its ups and downs. For instance, I lost about a million OSRS gold on my last batch of dart tips, but overall, I've mostly broken even. Considering the high XP rates, I’m happy to take a small loss here and there if it means getting closer to 99 Crafting.
Exploring New Money-Making Methods: The Nihil Shard Discovery
With the recent release of Nex, a new boss in Old School RuneScape, a new item called Nihil Shards has become available. These shards can be turned into Nihil Dust, and I discovered that there's currently a solid profit margin of around 700 GP per shard. What's even more intriguing is that Nihil Shards are stackable, meaning you can AFK them for extended periods.
I decided to test this method by purchasing 100 Nihil Shards. To my surprise, I found that you could continuously grind them into dust without stopping, making this one of the most AFK money-making methods in the game. From those initial 100 shards, I made around 60,000 GP in profit, with minimal effort. Encouraged by the success, I scaled up the operation, grinding 3,000 Nihil Shards, which netted me a profit of nearly 1.5 million GP.
This method has proven to be incredibly profitable, especially since it requires almost no attention. Even as the margin has slimmed over time, it’s still worth doing, considering how AFK it is. Over several days, I continued to grind these shards and made a total of 10 million GP, all while barely paying attention to the game.
Farming and Herblore: Slowly But Surely
While AFKing Nihil Shards, I’ve also been keeping up with my farm runs. Farming has been a slow grind, but I finally reached 75 Farming, which allows me to plant magic saplings without needing a boost. This is a significant milestone because magic saplings are not only profitable, but they also provide a good amount of farming experience.
In addition to farming, I've been working on my Herblore skill whenever I can find a good deal on supplies. One of the more cost-effective methods I've been using is making super combat potions. However, because I don't yet have the required Herblore level, I've had to boost my level using botanical pies. This method is quite tedious, as I have to re-pie every minute, but it’s worth it for the experience gains.
After a grueling session of making super combat potions, I finally hit 87 Herblore. While this method wasn’t particularly enjoyable, it was effective. In the future, I hope to find a less tedious alternative, especially as I inch closer to 99 Herblore.
A Rocky Surprise: The Unexpected Pet Drop
While training combat on guards—a relatively mundane task—I was shocked to receive a Rocky pet drop at just 54 Thieving. For those who aren’t familiar, the Rocky pet is incredibly rare, with odds of around 1 in 250,000 from guards. This unexpected surprise has been a highlight of my grind, and now I have a cute little companion to keep me company during my skilling sessions.
I never expected to get a pet on this account, so I hadn't even included it in my goals. But now that it’s happened, I’m excited to have something to show for all my hard work. Plus, it’s a great motivator to keep pushing toward that 1500 total level goal.
Wrapping Up: The Road to 1500 Total Levels
This journey to 1500 total levels is not going to be easy. Expanding the allowed area to include the Rock Palace and my POH has added some variety to the grind, but the challenge remains steep. Every level I gain feels like a significant achievement, especially considering the restrictions of this account.
Whether it's chopping yew trees, crafting amethyst darts, AFKing Nihil Shards, or training farming and herblore, each activity brings me one step closer to my goal. And with the unexpected Rocky pet drop, I’m more motivated than ever to keep going.
